not cebu, people... sibu! and sarikei!

look at all our haversacks in the foreground - the heaviest was eelee's at 10kg (the bag not the person) whereas the lightest traveler was me; my backpack's a mere 6kg!
flew from senai airport, jb to sibu and travelled by car then ferry then another car to (finally!) sarikei... first night: eelee and i met sarikei leaders while the rest wreaked havoc inside the room

FRI, 28 OCT 05

spent the morning finalising each person's roles for the next few days... everyone's saying malaysian KFC chicken's bigger and nicer so we walked to its only outlet in town for lunch...
afternoon's spent on translating all our lessons (how do you say 'characteristics of world changers' in mandarin? hohoho!) as well as CG rehearsal... then we met their youth for games!!


met new friends... all the girls are like sooo tall! i should've been born in borneo...

then CG starts! it is, in summary, hilarious! marcus has the making of a gao xiao xin dong host! and weilun, while doing communion, (to cut the long story short) threw a can of sardine into a pail of water making everyone siam... anw the rest went quite normal; jac was there to lead the whole CG and cheng did a lesson with the youth group

i wanna kidnap these four kids and bring them home! heard they make good snacks *bwahaha*

adrenaline ran high till late night but we had to psycho ourselves to go to bed not too late cos...

SAT, 29 OCT 05

the next morning we had to be ready by 6.45am for mini-sports day! do u wanna see photos of jason, marcus & weilun doing AEROBICS? hohohoho! guys, i'm open to bribery of choc...


wrapped the mini-sports day with LOTS of testimonies... we then went back to (without bathing first!) start preparing praise&worship workshop... by the time the others showered and reached hope place, they prob had to pinch their nose around us... nvm that, the classic had to be...
marcus: ni men ge yi na zhu lai ni men de 'shen jing' (crazy) ma?
sarikeians: *giggle giggle*
eelee: psst psst... it's 'shen jing' (bible)
marcus: ya, ya, 'shen jing' (crazy)
and i thought my mandarin's atrocious...

the moment we finished the workshop and prayed for sarikei's leaders, we immediately took our haversacks and rushed in time to catch the bus to sibu!


dont be belied by our teethy smiles! the truth is we're dead tired! on top of waking up at 6, we had to spend half of daylight just traveling from one town to another by bus then express boat...
the moment we reached hope sibu, another CG immediately started! this time round, weilun did the lesson - he's such a serious teacher hahaha... anw sibu youth caught the hai-tai-hai-tai fever!

SUN, 30 OCT 05

again woke up 6 and set off at 7 for breakfast then pre-service WFL... highlight of the day must be eelee preaching in mandarin! whoosh, her mandarin's super powerful xia, really! our dear rach also shared a testimony that touched many hearts...


this is the service venue - which we felt was way too small to contain their growth potential!!

sun afternoon was the first time the whole team got to relax a bit... had Bridge Championship!
evening was relaxed time with hope sibu's members - just dinner plus Bei Qi Xiong (polar bear)

MON, 31 OCT 05

hope sibu's leaders brought us to the biggest veggie market in borneo... the kuehs are like ultra-cheap and niceee~ after that we went back to HQ to prepare for our final event - church level combined dmm! it's busy, busy, busy till night fell...

the combined dmm started with, believe it or not, the da bian game aka the toilet game! more amazingly, these adults ran around saying "wo shi da bian!" tsk tsk tsk what have we done...

anw then huili (who's by now a pro) led us in mandarin p&w followed by all of us sharing our heart and vision to be the church God wants us to be! it was raining testimonies that night; think they're real amazed when jason shared about East' mega BBQ event!

by the end of this last night, there's a spirit so tangible, almost touchable, in that room... the closest noun i can choose to describe it with would be FAITH... but it's more than just the word 'faith'... there's just a reciprocal agreement: wherever we are, we're gonna do His work together!

TUE, 1 NOV 05

ah, so all things must come to an end, indeed - at least on this side of heaven... spent one last morning with hope sibu core team and our guys got to ride their motorbikes; contrary to predictions, weilun's head remained attached to his body till the end...



that's that for our adventure - next year, let it be urs!! =)
